Amir Khan confirms Pacquiao talks and addresses comeback

Amir Khan says talks over a comeback fight against Manny Pacquiao are underway, but has dismissed suggestions he will face the Filipino on the Tyson Fury–Anthony Joshua undercard.

The former world champion has not fought since his defeat by Kell Brook in February 2022.

Khan told Metro, in comments reported by talkSPORT, that the December show would leave insufficient preparation time.

Amir Khan discusses early 2027 return

In a separate interview with Hard Rock Bet, published by Global Boxing News, Khan identified January or February 2027 as a possible window and suggested the United States as a potential location.

However, he stressed that negotiations had not produced a confirmed fight.

“There’s talks happening. That’s all,” Khan said.

He explained that a promotional company had approached him and that he had referred the proposal to a lawyer.

Khan also distinguished those discussions from direct negotiations with Pacquiao’s own team.

Comeback still depends on agreement

The proposed contest would end a lengthy absence for Khan, who said he would need to return to training camp if the bout went ahead.

His comments leave the date and venue unresolved, despite his willingness to face Pacquiao.

For now, the talks remain separate from the December heavyweight event, where Fury and Joshua’s proposed late ringwalk has prompted a Cardiff Council application.
