Football Vidiprinter: Live Scores & Results
The classic Saturday-afternoon vidiprinter, back again: every goal, red card and result from the Premier League, EFL, National League and Scottish Premiership, typed out line by line as it happens.
Tuning in…
What is a football vidiprinter?
A vidiprinter is a live feed of football scores, typed onto the screen one line at a time as the news comes in from the grounds. For decades it was the heartbeat of Saturday afternoon. You watched it on BBC Grandstand and then Final Score, checked it on Ceefax page 302 and on Teletext, and waited for your team's name to appear, hoping it was good news.
The Dave.Sport Football Vidiprinter brings that back, in the blocky, blinking Teletext style, fed live by official match data. It's a Dave.Sport Original.
Why we brought the vidiprinter back
Nothing in football quite matches the tension of a vidiprinter. A line starts typing, you see the first few letters of a team name, and for a second it could be anyone. Modern score apps are fast, but they've lost that feeling. We built this for fans who grew up with it and for anyone who wants every score from the afternoon on one simple screen.
How it works
Before kick-off it runs through the day's fixtures, TV channels and our previews. Once the games start, every goal, penalty, VAR decision, red card, half-time and full-time is typed onto the vidiprinter the moment it happens, and the big moments flash up on the main screen with the score, the minute and the live match stats. Turn on commentary and our AI narrator reads them out. After the final whistle it rotates the results and the league tables, then our match reports and player ratings as they're published.
The narrator's commentary is generated automatically from official match data, and the voice is computer-generated. How we use AI at Dave.Sport.

Football vidiprinter FAQs
What is a football vidiprinter?
A vidiprinter is a live, line-by-line feed of football scores. Each goal, red card and full-time result is typed onto the screen the moment it comes in. It became a Saturday afternoon fixture on BBC Grandstand and Final Score, and on Ceefax and Teletext.
Which leagues are on the Dave.Sport vidiprinter?
The Premier League, EFL Championship, League One, League Two, National League and Scottish Premiership. Every game in those competitions is printed as it happens.
How quickly do scores appear?
The official match data is checked every 20 seconds while games are on, and the page refreshes itself every 15 seconds, so a goal usually appears within about half a minute.
Does the vidiprinter have commentary?
Yes, if you want it. Tap Turn on commentary and our AI narrator reads out each goal, red card and result. The voice is computer-generated from the official match data and stays off until you switch it on.
Can I watch the games on the vidiprinter?
No. It shows scores and events, not video. For where to watch, check our Football on TV today guide. Dave.Sport never links to illegal streams.
Is the vidiprinter free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up, and works in any browser.
