Frank Warren
Profile
Frank Warren is the founder of Queensberry Promotions and, with Eddie Hearn, one of the two men who have shaped British boxing for a generation. Born in Islington, London, on 28 February 1952, he held his first licensed show in 1980 at the Bloomsbury Crest Hotel and has been promoting ever since, a career of roughly 45 years that earned him election to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in December 2007 and induction in June 2008.
The fighters
Warren promoted Naseem Hamed to the WBO featherweight title in 1995, when a win over Steve Robinson at Cardiff Arms Park made Hamed Britain's youngest world champion, and guided Ricky Hatton to the IBF light-welterweight title against Kostya Tszyu in 2005. He signed Amir Khan after his 2004 Olympic silver and took him to a world title in 2009. His list also includes Frank Bruno, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Joe Calzaghe, Steve Collins, Billy Joe Saunders, Josh Warrington and Derek Chisora. Today his biggest name is Tyson Fury, whose WBC reign and Wilder trilogy Queensberry promoted and whose comeback fights in 2026 led to the Joshua fight in Cardiff.
Television
Warren signed an exclusive deal with BSkyB in 1995, later parted with Sky, and co-founded the BoxNation channel that launched in 2011 and ran for more than a decade. Queensberry's shows are now carried by DAZN.
Survival and recognition
He survived being shot outside the Broadway Theatre in Barking on 30 November 1989; the gunman was never caught. In 2024 his Team Queensberry beat Team Matchroom 10-0 in Riyadh, and in May 2025 he received a lifetime achievement award at the Sports Industry Awards in London. On Fury v Joshua he has said he accepts the broadcaster's requirement for a late ring walk, and that Wembley's curfew ruled it out as a venue.
