Profile

Anthony Joshua is the 2012 Olympic super-heavyweight champion who became a two-time unified world heavyweight champion and, for most of the last decade, the biggest draw in British boxing. Born in Watford on 15 October 1989, he stands 6 ft 6 in with an 82-inch reach, boxes orthodox and has stopped 27 of the 30 men he has beaten.

From London 2012 to world champion

Joshua turned professional on 5 October 2013 against Emanuele Leo and won the IBF title in 2016. In April 2017 he added the WBA Super title by climbing off the canvas to stop Wladimir Klitschko in the eleventh round in front of 90,000 at Wembley Stadium, and the WBO belt followed in 2018 after a points win over Joseph Parker in Cardiff. He lost the titles to Andy Ruiz Jr in New York in June 2019 and won them straight back in the rematch in Saudi Arabia six months later, before Oleksandr Usyk took them from him at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September 2021 and kept them in the Jeddah rematch in August 2022.

Rebuilding, a setback and two knockouts

A run of wins rebuilt his standing, but a bid for the IBF title against Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on 21 September 2024 ended in a fifth-round knockout defeat, his fourth loss. He answered it in a different arena altogether: on 19 December 2025 in Miami he knocked out Jake Paul in the sixth round in a fight streamed on Netflix, then on 25 July 2026 at the Jeddah Superdome he was dropped twice in the first round by Kristian Prenga and stopped him in the second. That win took his record to 30-4 with 27 knockouts.

His next fight is the one Britain has waited for since both men held world titles: Tyson Fury at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff, on 11 December 2026, for the vacant WBA Super heavyweight title and live on Netflix. Joshua has been promoted by Matchroom Boxing throughout his professional career.
