Biography

Gerwyn Price, known as The Iceman, is a Welsh darts player and a former PDC world champion. Born in Newport on 7 March 1985 and based in Markham, he was fourth on the PDC Order of Merit when the rankings were last published on 2 November 2026, with £829,500 in ranking prize money over the two-year period the list covers. The PDC credits him with 45 senior titles, a total the PDC compiles across all of its senior competitions.

A former rugby union hooker with Neath and Cross Keys, Price won his PDC Tour Card at Q-School in January 2014, and his first ranking title came in 2016, when he beat Peter Wright 6-3 to win Players Championship 7. Two years later he won his first major, the Grand Slam of Darts, beating Gary Anderson 16-13 in the final. He added the World Grand Prix in 2020 with a 5-2 win over Dirk van Duijvenbode, and in 2021 he beat Anderson again, 7-3, to become PDC world champion. Later that year he won the Grand Slam for a third time, beating Wright 16-8.

He has stayed among the leading players since. In October 2026 he reached the World Grand Prix final, losing 6-4 in sets to Luke Humphries, and two weeks later he lost 6-4 to Niels Zonneveld in the last 16 of the Dutch Darts Championship. He then made the semi-finals of the European Championship, beating Rob Cross 6-2, Cameron Menzies 10-4 and Stephen Bunting 10-3, conceding no more than four legs in any of those matches, before an 11-7 defeat to Ross Smith. The PDC records nine nine-dart finishes for him across all of its events. He throws 23-gram Red Dragon darts and walks on to “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice.
