The story
Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua is the fight British boxing has argued about since 2017, when both men held world heavyweight titles and a deal to put them in the same ring kept collapsing. It finally happens on Friday 11 December 2026 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, for the vacant WBA Super heavyweight title, streamed worldwide by Netflix at no extra cost to subscribers.
How it was made
The fight was confirmed on 24 September 2026 by Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, with Netflix and The Ring, and the first press conference followed at the British Airways Arc at Olympia in London on 30 September. The British Boxing Board of Control lists Queensberry Promotions, Matchroom Boxing and Sela as the promoters. Cardiff was chosen over Madison Square Garden in New York; Frank Warren has said Wembley's curfew could not accommodate the start time that the broadcaster wanted.
Tickets
About 80,000 tickets went on general sale at noon on Friday 9 October 2026 and sold out within the hour, with BBC Sport reporting more than 500,000 people in the online queue. Prices ran from £88.50 including booking fee to £13,128 at the top of the primary market, with hospitality packages from £9,995 to £16,995 a head. When Joshua fought Kubrat Pulev at the same stadium in 2017, about 70,000 tickets sold on the first day, then a venue record.
The late ring walk
Because the fight is built around the American audience on Netflix, the main-event ring walk is expected at around 1am on Saturday 12 December, roughly 8pm Eastern Time, after a live music performance. Eddie Hearn has said the contracts cap the ring walk at 2am. Millennium Stadium plc has applied to Cardiff Council to extend the venue's licence, which currently ends at 1am for boxing, to 3am with the stadium open until 3.30am; the public had until 3 November 2026 to comment. The roof will stay shut.
The fighters
Fury comes in at 36-2-1 with 25 knockouts after comeback wins over Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April 2026 and Mariusz Wach in Pattaya in July, his two defeats both to Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh in 2024. Joshua is 30-4 with 27 knockouts, having knocked out Jake Paul in Miami in December 2025 and climbed off the canvas twice to stop Kristian Prenga in Jeddah in July 2026. BBC Sport has reported a combined purse close to $200 million.
The undercard
The first undercard bout was confirmed by Netflix on 4 November 2026: Deontay Wilder against Jai Opetaia at heavyweight, with the unbeaten Australian moving up from cruiserweight to face the former WBC champion. The rest of the card is still to be announced. This page is updated the day bouts are confirmed.
