Fury vs Joshua: Cardiff Council asked to approve 1am ringwalk
Fury vs Joshua organisers have asked Cardiff Council to approve plans for a 1am ringwalk at the Principality Stadium.
Fury vs Joshua organisers have asked Cardiff Council to approve plans for a 1am ringwalk at the Principality Stadium.
The heavyweight fight is advertised for Friday, 11 December, but the proposed timings would see the main event take place in the early hours of Saturday, 12 December.
The late schedule still requires approval. A licensing application seeks permission to extend boxing and wrestling entertainment until 3am, alongside live and recorded music, alcohol sales and late-night refreshments.
Cardiff Council’s public notice describes the request as a one-off extension for the meeting between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
What time could Fury vs Joshua start?
Under the proposals, the ringwalk would begin at 1am GMT following a short live music performance, with the stadium closing at 3.30am.
Those are proposed timings rather than a confirmed fight schedule. The opening bell would follow the ringwalk and pre-fight introductions.
Sky Sports reports that the plans also include a closed stadium roof and additional security and stewarding.
The venue’s existing permission for boxing and wrestling runs until 1am. The application would extend that by two hours for this event.
When will the application be decided?
Written representations on the application can be submitted to Cardiff Council until 3 November.
For supporters planning to attend, the distinction between the advertised event date and the proposed ringwalk matters: the card is scheduled for Friday, but Fury and Joshua would enter the ring on Saturday morning.
Travel and accommodation plans will therefore need to account for a potential finish well after midnight.
