Archie Self and Nunjo Dewaele win maiden titles

Archie Self and Nunjo Dewaele win maiden Development Tour titles in Wigan, with ranking movement and Finals implications.

Archie Self and Nunjo Dewaele won their first Development Tour titles on Saturday, the PDC has confirmed.

Self won Event 22 and Dewaele won Event 21, as the final weekend of the 2026 Winmau Development Tour got underway in Wigan.

Both finals were played at the Robin Park Leisure Centre, which is staging the last four events of the season.

The PDC said “Archie Self and Nunjo Dewaele claimed their first titles on the Winmau Development Tour on Saturday.”

Archie shows his true Self

Self is only 16 years old, and his run through Event 22 showed real composure.

The PDC said “the talented 16-year-old kicked off his Event 22 campaign with a 4-0 thrashing of Cayden Smith,” before he recovered from 3-1 down to beat Luca Wolff.

He then beat Angelo Balsamo, Rylie Tock, Oliver Ufer and Dominik Gruellich to reach the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, his third 95+ average of the event proved enough to see off Nathan Potter.

Self completed the run with a 5-2 win over Sam Jackson in the final. Jackson reached that final by conceding only one leg in his first four matches, before beating Owen Bates and Dylan Slevin.

Nunjo Dewaele’s run to the Event 21 title stretched to eight straight wins. He opened with victories over Oscar Hodson and Ciaran Forde, then beat Shane de Jong, Mason Whitlock, Eoin Corrigan, Dylan Slevin and Connor Mitchell on the way to the final against Cole Davey.

Dewaele trailed Davey 4-3 in the final before turning the match on its head to win 5-4.

The PDC said: “After trailing 4-3, Dewaele took out back-to-back legs in 12 and 15 darts to triumph in spectacular fashion, claiming a first title in the PDC.” Both results stand as maiden Development Tour titles, achieved on the same afternoon in Wigan.

Development Impact For Both Players

The wins move both players up the Development Tour rankings.

Self climbs to ninth, while Dewaele rises to 21st after his run in Wigan.

Sebastian Bialecki remains ineligible for Development Tour events, having moved into the world’s top 64.

He is still guaranteed to finish top of the rankings, with the PDC placing him clear of Jack Drayton in second. Cam Crabtree sits third, with Leon Weber and Jamai van den Herik fourth and fifth.

That points table carries real stakes.

The PDC said “the top two players from the 2026 Development Tour rankings will each win a PDC Tour Card for 2027-28,” while the top three will earn places in the 2026/27 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.

Because Bialecki already holds a Tour Card and a World Championship spot through the ProTour rankings, those places pass down to the next eligible players in the qualification races.

What Happens Next at Robin Park

The Robin Park Leisure Centre continues to host the Development Tour’s final weekend, with Events 23 and 24 still to be played. Those results will help settle the places below Bialecki, including the Tour Card and World Championship spots still open.

The Development Tour then gives way to the wider PDC calendar, detailed in the 2027 schedule, as younger players look to build on weekends like this one at venues supporting grassroots development.
