The European Open 2027 will bring 160 players to Salzburg, with £750,000 in prize money and qualification routes for professionals, emerging players and amateurs.
The inaugural tournament takes place at the Salzburgarena from 18–20 June. The PDC’s announcement, reproduced by DartsNews, confirms the prize fund.
How does European Open 2027 qualification work?
PDC Europe’s official announcement sets out five routes into the field:
| Qualification route | Places |
|---|---|
| PDC Tour Card holders | 128 |
| International qualifiers | 16 |
| Leading Challenge Tour players | 4 |
| Leading Development Tour players | 4 |
| PDC Europe Next Gen and PDCE Start qualifiers | 8 |
| Total | 160 |
The eight amateur places are shared across Next Gen and PDCE Start. The announcement does not specify how they will be divided between those competitions.
What will the tournament look like?
Organisers have taken inspiration from the UK Open, with matches across eight boards and spectators able to move between them.
The event was included in September’s 2027 PDC calendar announcement. It follows the World Cup of Darts in Frankfurt, which runs from 10–13 June.
It is a separate tournament from the European Championship, where Stephen Bunting faces a qualifying battle before Maastricht. Our Grand Slam qualification guide explains another of the PDC’s different entry systems.
When do tickets go on sale?
