Carrick Says Bournemouth Loss Was ‘Not A Farewell’ To Man Utd

Michael Carrick has called for a swift resolution to Manchester City’s financial case, saying the uncertainty has raised personal questions about his playing career.

The Manchester United manager was speaking on Friday after an independent commission found City guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules. City deny wrongdoing and have appealed.

“Speed is essential for everyone to be clear, to be able to deal with it, to be able to move on, whatever happens,” Carrick said, as reported by Sky Sports.

Michael Carrick reflects on past title races

Carrick was part of the United sides which finished second to City in 2011–12 and 2017–18, during the period covered by the case.

He said receiving a medal retrospectively could not recreate the experience of winning a championship at the time.

The former midfielder stopped short of calling for a particular outcome, acknowledging that the proceedings remain unresolved.

His comments came before United’s Premier League match against Tottenham on Saturday.

City appeal remains ongoing

The commission’s findings and any eventual punishment are separate parts of the process. Sanctions have yet to be determined, and no decision has been announced to reallocate titles.

City manager Enzo Maresca also addressed the case on Friday, expressing confidence in the club’s challenge to the findings.
