Man City Women vs PSG result: Tara Elimbi Gilbert’s late equaliser cancelled out Bunny Shaw’s penalty as Manchester City drew 1-1 at the Joie Stadium and remained without a win in this season’s Women’s Champions League.
Shaw put City ahead in the 85th minute, but Elimbi Gilbert replied in the 88th to deny Andrée Jeglertz’s side victory.
Man City Women vs PSG result: late goals settle the contest
Lauren Hemp created early openings for City, with Shaw sending a header wide and later narrowly missing from outside the penalty area. At the other end, Ayaka Yamashita dealt with an effort from Naomie Feller, according to City’s matchday commentary.
The breakthrough eventually came from the penalty spot. Shaw converted, only for Elimbi Gilbert to beat Yamashita three minutes later and secure a point for PSG.
Manchester City’s official report confirms the result and both goals.
Jeglertz frustrated after another late equaliser
Andrée Jeglertz felt City had done enough to win but regretted their failure to make their earlier pressure count.
“The performance was good. The result is not what we wanted. It’s frustrating to concede a goal this late,” he told City’s matchday coverage.
The manager also said City could have settled the contest earlier, having spent long spells attacking around PSG’s penalty area.
Another late lead slips away
The ending followed a similar disappointment in Sunday’s Manchester derby, when Shaw scored before Elisabeth Terland’s 89th-minute equaliser earned United a 1-1 draw.
On that occasion, Shaw had struck in the 66th minute. City were unable to add a second before United levelled late on, as detailed in the club’s derby reaction report.
Thursday brought another lead and another draw, this time in Europe.
What the draw means for City and PSG
City have three points from three league-phase matches. Their opening two fixtures finished 2-2 away to Bayern Munich and 1-1 at home to Real Madrid.
PSG move to five points, having drawn with Real Madrid and beaten OH Leuven before travelling to Manchester.
