Alex Scott Contract: Bill Foley Names Chelsea

Bill Foley says Bournemouth are still pursuing a new Alex Scott contract, while acknowledging the attraction of Chelsea.

“We haven’t given up,” the Bournemouth owner told talkSPORT.

Foley mentioned Chelsea and Manchester City when discussing why players might look elsewhere.

Could Alex Scott leave Bournemouth in January?

Sky Sports reported on 16 October that Chelsea and Liverpool retain a serious interest in the 23-year-old, who has declined offers of a new deal.

His existing contract runs into 2028. That leaves Bournemouth weighing the importance of keeping him against the prospect of his value falling as the agreement runs down.

Sky reported that a substantial January offer could be considered, with Bournemouth’s league position also a factor. Scott was not expected to agitate for a move.

Those remain reported conditions for a possible January transfer, rather than an agreement for him to leave.

Where does Scott’s injury recovery stand?

Head coach Marco Rose has defended Scott’s commitment while the midfielder recovers from a thigh tendon injury sustained on England duty.

In his update last week, Rose said Scott’s recovery was progressing better than expected, although he stopped short of setting a return date.

Bournemouth host AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday, with kick-off at 8pm BST at the Vitality Stadium.
