Matheus Cunha is on the bench and Andrey Santos starts in the confirmed Leeds v Man Utd line-ups, with Michael Carrick also selecting Leny Yoro and Youri Tielemans at Elland Road.

Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee join Cunha among the substitutes, while Bryan Mbeumo is expected to lead United’s attack. Lisandro Martinez starts after a week dominated by his comments about the club’s hierarchy.

Leeds vs Man United kicks off at 2pm BST on Sunday 18 October, live on Sky Sports Main Event.

Leeds United starting XI

Leeds: James Trafford, James Justin, Nico Elvedi, Tarik Muharemovic, Jayden Bogle, Ethan Ampadu, Ao Tanaka, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Anton Stach, Noah Okafor, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Calvert-Lewin starts with Okafor and Stach also selected, as Daniel Farke’s side seek a response to their defeat at Arsenal.

Man Utd starting XI

Manchester United: Senne Lammens, Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Diogo Dalot, Andrey Santos, Carlos Baleba, Bruno Fernandes, Youri Tielemans, Amad, Bryan Mbeumo.

Carrick has selected Santos, Baleba and Tielemans together, leaving several attacking alternatives in reserve. The selection puts the emphasis on Mbeumo, Fernandes and Amad to provide United’s threat from the outset.

Leeds v Man Utd team news: what changed

Leeds have selected all 11 names from our predicted line-ups.

United differ in three places. Yoro, Santos and Tielemans start, whereas our forecast included Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo and Cunha. Shaw and Mainoo had been provisional selections pending fitness checks.

Neither Shaw nor Mainoo is in the matchday squad. Both missed the midweek trip to Atletico Madrid, and Carrick had left their availability open on Friday, saying: “We’ll see on Luke and Kobbie.” That update did not provide a specific diagnosis or return date.

Martinez’s inclusion follows his apology and discussions with United officials after the defeat in Madrid. Carrick has kept the defender in his starting side as United look to end a five-match winless run in all competitions.

Substitutes

Leeds: Michael Zetterer, Sean Longstaff, Harry Wilson, Brenden Aaronson, Lukas Nmecha, Jaka Bijol, Jean-Mattéo Bahoya, Melvin Bard, Ilia Gruev.

Manchester United: Karl Darlow, Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, Mason Mount, Marcus Rashford, Matheus Cunha, Joshua Zirkzee, Shea Lacey, Harry Amass.
