Good morning

AI Dave: Good morning! It's Monday the nineteenth of October, and this is the Dave dot Sport Originals Daily Sports News Bulletin. I'm A.I. Dave.

Jo: And I'm Jo. Dave, you sound all in already, and it's not even nine o'clock.

AI Dave: Always all in, Jo! Coming up: a goal from fifty-one metres at Brighton, Celtic put seven past Hearts, and Arsenal's bench wins it again.

Jo: Plus a very welcome face returns for Spurs tonight. Let's get into it.

The headlines

AI Dave: Right, Diego Gómez. Brighton five, Crystal Palace nil, and he scored from fifty-one point three metres in the seventh minute.

Jo: Fifty-one metres! That's the longest Premier League goal since Wayne Rooney's for Everton against West Ham in November 2017. Did you see that coming?

AI Dave: Not a chance! Brighton were three up inside ten minutes. Only the ninth side in Premier League history to do that.

Jo: And they've won their last four league games by fifteen goals to nil. Fifteen-nil! That's ridiculous.

AI Dave: Second in the table now, too. Gómez said, and I love this, "When I scored, I didn't know where to run or what to do."

Jo: Same, mate. Same.

AI Dave: Next, Celtic seven, Hearts one. Callum Osmand and Benjamin Nygren got two each. Five-one at half-time!

Jo: And that's after losing four-one at Benfica on Thursday. What a response. Osmand's two goals came in three minutes on his first Celtic start, too.

AI Dave: They're four points clear of Rangers now. Jo, is that the title race over already?

Jo: Don't be daft, it's October! But it's a statement, I'll give you that.

AI Dave: Arsenal then. Noni Madueke came off the bench at half-time and won it at Forest, one-nil, in the eightieth minute.

Jo: With a big deflection off Jair Cunha, mind. Lucky? A bit. Do Arsenal care? Not a chance.

AI Dave: Fair. Declan Rice made a big block late on too, and they're back up to second.

Jo: And Sunderland had a nightmare. Kevin Danso was sent off in seventeen minutes at Bournemouth, who won two-nil.

AI Dave: Brutal. That's four straight league defeats and no win since the thirtieth of August. And it's Marco Rose's first Premier League win.

Jo: Evanilson was involved in everything. Danso misses the Leeds game next Sunday, but he's fine for Thursday's Europa League tie.

Results round-up

AI Dave: Right, the results. Premier League first. Leeds one, Man United one.

Jo: Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead on thirty-five minutes, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin levelled six minutes into the second half. That's one win in seven for Michael Carrick's side.

AI Dave: And Noussair Mazraoui cleared off the line in stoppage time. Honestly, they'll take that point.

Jo: Bournemouth two, Sunderland nil. Marcus Tavernier in the sixth minute, Evanilson in the forty-eighth.

AI Dave: Brighton five, Palace nil. Own goal from Jaydee Canvot, Gómez, Yasin Ayari, Charalampos Kostoulas, then Jack Hinshelwood off the bench.

Jo: Forest nil, Arsenal one, Madueke. Celtic seven, Hearts one in the Scottish Premiership.

AI Dave: Osmand twice, Nygren twice, Kieran Tierney, Camilo Durán and a Jamie McCart own goal. Laurent Mendy got Hearts' one.

Jo: Over to the Women's Super League. Man City three, Brighton two. Khadija Shaw scored twice, and that's six wins from six.

AI Dave: Chelsea six, Tottenham two! Lauren James and Ellie Carpenter got two each. Is that a Chelsea title charge, Jo?

Jo: Well, they're two points behind City. So I'd say they're in it.

AI Dave: London City Lionesses two, Everton one. Charlton one, Man United three, with Ella Toone scoring a thumping volley.

Jo: Aston Villa two, Liverpool one, their first win of the season. And West Ham one, Crystal Palace nil.

The big talking point

Jo: Talking point time. Pierre Sage at Palace. Seventeen goals conceded in seven games, the worst record in the league. Dave, is he in trouble?

AI Dave: Honestly? Yes. Five-nil, three down in ten minutes, and it matches their heaviest defeat to Brighton, which last happened in 1956.

Jo: Hang on, though. He stood up and said, "I prepare the team, I'm responsible." That's not a manager hiding.

AI Dave: Taking responsibility is great, but you can't keep saying it. Slow starts are the problem. He even said he needs to look at the warm-up and the dressing-room message.

Jo: Which tells me he's actually trying to fix it! Give the man time.

AI Dave: They're only two points off the bottom three, Jo. How much time have they got?

Jo: Fair, but Besiktas on Thursday and Newcastle on Sunday isn't an easy fix. It might be a good week or a horrible one.

AI Dave: So you'd keep him?

Jo: For now. You're all in on sacking him, aren't you?

AI Dave: I'm all in on everything, you know that! Let us know who's right.

Around the sports

Jo: Darts now, and a first PDC title for Niels Zonneveld! He beat Danny Noppert eight-five in the Dutch Darts Championship final in Maastricht.

AI Dave: And on home soil! He hit a one-five-seven checkout in the final, then won it on double three.

Jo: He'd even survived a match dart against Wessel Nijman in the quarter-finals. Thirty-five thousand pounds, plus a Grand Slam of Darts debut.

AI Dave: Poor Noppert, though. That's a fifth European Tour final defeat.

Jo: Ouch. Rugby league next. New Zealand beat Fiji eighteen-twelve at the Women's World Cup.

AI Dave: Fiji's first-ever World Cup game, and they led twelve-four at one point! Leianne Tufuga's try with three minutes left sealed it.

Jo: Stacey Waaka scored twice on her Kiwi Ferns debut. Brilliant stuff from Fiji, though.

On the box today

AI Dave: On the box tonight, Tottenham against Coventry City, eight o'clock, on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event. It's also on NOW.

Jo: Spurs are bottom with three points and no wins from six. And Dejan Kulusevski is back on the bench after more than five hundred days out.

AI Dave: Roberto De Zerbi said, "Kulusevski on the bench." Simple, and brilliant news.

Jo: Though Rodrigo Bentancur begins a three-match ban, and Savio and Lucas Bergvall are out too.

AI Dave: Coventry are sixteenth on six points after beating Newcastle four-one. Jo, who've you got?

Jo: Honest answer? Spurs have to win one eventually. Two-one Tottenham. You?

AI Dave: I'm going one-all, because I can't read this one.

Jo: The man who's all in on everything is hedging! I'm shocked.

Sign-off

AI Dave: That's the show! Everything we've talked about is at dave dot Sport.

Jo: And catch Spurs against Coventry tonight in the A.I. Live Football Studio for live scores.

AI Dave: I'm A.I. Dave.

Jo: And I'm Jo. See you tomorrow!
