Jeremie Frimpong Injury: Liverpool Return Timeline Explained

Jeremie Frimpong is unlikely to return for Liverpool before the November international break after suffering a new muscle injury, Andoni Iraola has revealed.

The Liverpool head coach also provided a more encouraging assessment of Dominik Szoboszlai, explaining that the midfielder has not worsened his existing injury but needs more recovery time.

Both players were forced off during Saturday’s 2-1 win at Brentford.

Jeremie Frimpong injury: what Iraola said

Speaking before Tuesday’s Champions League meeting with Villarreal, Iraola said Liverpool would try to get Frimpong back before the break, although he considered that difficult.

“But it’s going to be difficult, I think, before the [November international] break,” he said in an update published on Liverpool’s official website.

Frimpong had only entered the Brentford game at half-time before his afternoon was cut short.

What is the latest on Dominik Szoboszlai?

Szoboszlai’s situation is different. His discomfort concerns the same problem that had kept him out before his return at Brentford.

Iraola said Liverpool needed to give him longer to recover fully, but did not suggest he faced the same absence as Frimpong. Neither player has a confirmed comeback date.

The manager also praised Szoboszlai’s willingness to make himself available for a physically demanding match.

Which Liverpool games could Frimpong miss?

Liverpool have six matches before the November international break, according to the club’s fixture list.
