Maresca says Man City need ‘perfect game’ to beat PSG

Enzo Maresca says Manchester City must produce a “perfect game” against Paris Saint-Germain, but believes his side can beat the European champions.

Speaking before Wednesday’s Champions League meeting at the Etihad, the City manager acknowledged the challenge posed by Luis Enrique’s team.

“We need the perfect game but at the same time, if we play our best we can beat them,” Maresca said, as reported by City’s official website.

He declined to judge how close City are to PSG’s level.

City head into the match following their 3-0 victory over Liverpool on Sunday.

Erling Haaland, Jérémy Doku and Rayan Cherki scored after Ryan Gravenberch’s dismissal, turning a goalless contest into a convincing away win.

Doku made his contribution from the bench, coming on in the 56th minute before scoring 12 minutes later. Elliot Anderson provided the assist, while fellow substitute Josko Gvardiol set up Cherki’s third.

That leaves Maresca with attacking selection decisions as City switch their attention to Europe.
