Six wins, none conceded: Bournemouth give Rose something to build on

Marco Rose during Bournemouth’s winning run

Bournemouth have won six successive matches without conceding, turning a difficult start under Marco Rose into a run that has taken in Manchester United, AC Milan and three different competitions.

Saturday’s 2–0 victory over Leeds extended the Bournemouth winning run to 16 goals without reply. Three consecutive Premier League victories have followed six league games without a win.

The results are striking. Just as encouraging for Rose is the range of players helping to produce them. Evanilson is scoring regularly, Justin Kluivert is creating goals and the substitutes are making their opportunities count.

Our Bournemouth vs Leeds match report covers the latest victory. Taken alongside the previous five, it offers a clearer picture of a side beginning to find its feet.

That sequence has required Bournemouth to keep delivering through a crowded schedule. The league wins have repaired their early-season position, while progress in Europe and the domestic cup has given Rose further opportunities to use his squad.

The distinction matters when judging the turnaround. Three league victories are a substantial improvement, but they do not erase the opening six matches. Bournemouth still have to make this level of performance last.

Clean sheets give Bournemouth room to win

Leeds showed why the scorelines should not be mistaken for six afternoons of complete control. They started brightly and had a Dominic Calvert-Lewin goal ruled out for handball before James Trafford’s error allowed Kluivert to set up Evanilson.

Yet their promising approach play produced only one shot on target across the match, according to Sky Sports’ match report and statistics.

Bournemouth’s ability to protect a narrow lead gave their attacking players time to find a second goal. They did not need to turn every chance into a goal, or chase the game with increasing urgency.

Rose’s explanation afterwards was measured. Speaking in comments carried by Stats Perform, he pointed to familiar patterns, defending the penalty area and getting small details right.

That is a more useful explanation than treating the run as a sudden transformation. Bournemouth are putting those details together consistently enough to give themselves a chance of winning even when their opponents start better.

Evanilson supplies the finishing touch

Evanilson has now scored in four consecutive Premier League appearances. His opening goal against Leeds took him to four goals and four assists in the competition this season.

Rose praised the forward’s work with and without the ball, identifying the goals as the part now coming together.

For Bournemouth, that combination is valuable. They have a striker contributing to their wider attacking play while also taking the opportunities that decide tight games. Against Leeds, his finish turned a goalkeeper’s mistake into a lead the visitors could not overturn.

Kroupi and Adli show the value of Rose’s bench

The second goal offered another reason for encouragement. Eli Junior Kroupi beat Ethan Ampadu before releasing Amine Adli, who finished to settle the contest in stoppage time.

Both had started among the substitutes. Their combination gave Bournemouth the decisive final action after Leeds had remained within one goal for most of the afternoon.

It followed a midweek victory over Aston Villa in which Rose made eight changes and still saw Adli, Lewis Cook and Álvaro Rodríguez score. Those contributions give the manager a stronger argument for rotating his side when the fixtures demand it.

Our Bournemouth vs Leeds player ratings reflect Kroupi’s impact from the bench.

There will be harder spells to come. A clean sheet does not mean every defensive problem has been solved, and Leeds were still close enough to threaten a different outcome late on.

But Bournemouth now have several things working in their favour: a reliable scorer, substitutes capable of changing a match and a defence that keeps giving them something to protect. After a winless league start, Rose has earned the chance to build from a much stronger position.
