Hull vs Ipswich preview: Hull City look to end a six-match Premier League winless run when Ipswich Town visit the MKM Stadium on Saturday, with both sides coming off 1-1 draws.

Sergej Jakirović’s team shared the points with Brentford last Sunday, while Gary O’Neil’s Ipswich drew with Nottingham Forest two days earlier. Saturday’s meeting kicks off at 3pm GMT on 31 October.

Hull have remained unbeaten at home, but their strong opening to the campaign has given way to a prolonged wait for another league victory. Ipswich arrive with an opportunity to build on their recovery against Forest.

Hull vs Ipswich preview: home resilience meets a wait for wins

Hull began their league campaign by beating Manchester United 2-0 and Coventry City 1-0. They have not won in the competition since that second victory on 29 August, according to Sports Mole’s Thursday preview.

Their latest result nevertheless preserved an important strength. Hull’s official report confirms they remained unbeaten at home after the draw with Brentford.

Oli McBurnie put the Tigers ahead from the penalty spot before Dango Ouattara equalised in the second half, as detailed in The Stats Zone’s match preview.

That result leaves Hull with something to protect and something to improve. They have made the MKM difficult to visit, but turning another competitive performance into three points would end the wait stretching back to August.

Enciso gives Ipswich encouragement

Ipswich also took a point from their previous match, with the club’s official report recording a 1-1 draw against Forest at Portman Road.

Julio Enciso scored his first goal of his second spell with Town in that game, TWTD reported. O’Neil subsequently described the outcome as a good point for his side in the outlet’s post-match coverage.

Enciso’s contribution is one reason for Ipswich to approach Saturday with encouragement. The Paraguayan has supplied a goal and two assists across eight league appearances, according to his official club statistics.

For Town, the next task is to convert that attacking contribution into an away result against opponents who have so far avoided a home defeat.

Hull team news: several fitness concerns

Sports Mole’s Thursday assessment lists Eliot Matazo, Matt Targett, Ilyas Ansah, Darko Gyabi and Charlie Hughes as unavailable through injury.

Jack Butland, Nobel Mendy and Lucas Gourna-Douath are listed as doubts requiring assessment in Sports Mole’s preview published on Thursday 29 October. Their availability for Saturday is not confirmed.

Those concerns leave Jakirović with decisions across his squad. Hull’s selection against Brentford included Kostas Tzolakis in goal and McBurnie up front, but that previous XI is not a confirmed team for Ipswich.

Ipswich team news: Taylor out, Lukić a doubt

Jack Taylor is listed as unavailable in Sports Mole’s preview, while Saša Lukić faces assessment over a groin problem.

Lukić missed the Forest match, with The Stats Zone identifying his availability as a question ahead of the trip to Hull. O’Neil’s midfield selection will therefore be one of the points to watch when the teams are announced.

Enciso’s goal against Forest adds to the attacking selection discussion, while Emersonn and Zian Flemming offer options at centre-forward. Neither a change up front nor an unchanged side has been confirmed.
