Aston Villa v Liverpool at Keys Park: why WSL game moved

Aston Villa’s Women’s Super League match against Liverpool will take place at Keys Park on Sunday after a crowded October schedule prompted the club to move the fixture away from Villa Park.

The game still kicks off at 2pm BST on Sunday 18 October. Supporters attending should head to Hednesford, where Villa have arranged a free station shuttle and published revised matchday information.

Here is why the venue changed and what it means for fans travelling to the game.

Why is Aston Villa v Liverpool at Keys Park?

Villa cited six first-team fixtures scheduled at Villa Park during October when explaining the decision to use their secondary home.

In the club’s statement, reproduced in Liverpool’s official venue announcement, Villa acknowledged that supporters had expected the match to be played at Villa Park and that moving it could cause inconvenience.

The announcement changes the stadium while retaining the original date and kick-off time.

For anyone who made travel arrangements when the fixtures were released, the important step is to check the destination on their journey planner. Keys Park is in Hednesford, Staffordshire.

The stadium ticket office opens at 12.30pm, 90 minutes before kick-off, according to Liverpool’s ticket information. Supporters can check the official ticket page for the latest sales arrangements.

How does the free station shuttle work?

A free, accessible shuttle serves both home and away supporters from Hednesford Railway View bus stop on Cannock Road, a short walk from the station platforms.

Services leave every 20 minutes from noon, with the final pre-match departure at 1.40pm. Return journeys run every 20 minutes between 4pm and 5pm.

Supporters walking from Hednesford station should allow approximately 25–30 minutes.

Villa’s separate coach from Villa Park is sold out. Fans already booked on it should follow their booking instructions; the advertised departure is noon from Trinity Road beside the Holte End.

Where can supporters park?

General on-site parking is unavailable at Keys Park, and the allocated Blue Badge spaces are sold out for this fixture.

Hednesford Town have introduced additional parking at Kingsmead School, King’s Avenue, WS12 1DH, approximately 0.6 miles from the ground.

Spaces cost £5 per vehicle and must be booked through Fanbase. Payment will not be accepted at the car park.

The club’s parking announcement also confirms that the previous Sunflex/Dunelm arrangement is no longer available. Supporters using older ground guides should take particular care to follow the updated instructions.

Can I watch Aston Villa v Liverpool from home?

Yes. The WSL’s broadcast schedule lists the match on Sky Sports and the official Barclays WSL YouTube channel.

Our Aston Villa v Liverpool how-to-watch guide covers the viewing options, including the advertised free stream. The wider Sunday schedule is available in our football on TV guide.

Villa seek a first league win of the season

The change of surroundings comes with Villa looking to end a nine-match winless WSL run, stretching back to their victory at Leicester in March.

Liverpool arrive with seven points from five matches, their best return at this stage since 2023–24. Villa can nevertheless draw encouragement from last season’s corresponding home fixture, which they won 3-0.

Those figures give Sunday’s meeting significance beyond the venue change: Villa need a breakthrough, while Liverpool have an opportunity to build on an improved start.
