Arsenal training: Hincapie and Zubimendi absent before Lille

Piero Hincapie and Martin Zubimendi were absent from Arsenal’s open training session on Monday ahead of their Champions League meeting with Lille.

The pair’s absence follows reports that both picked up injuries during the warm-down after Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Leeds United.

Arseblog News reports that neither joined the group, while William Saliba worked individually on grass as he continues his recovery from a back problem.

Arsenal training absences raise Lille concerns

Hincapie needed help leaving the Emirates pitch after the post-match session, as covered in our initial injury report.

The Ecuador defender had replaced Riccardo Calafiori in the 82nd minute against Leeds. Zubimendi was an unused substitute.

Their absence from open training raises doubts over their availability for Tuesday, although the reports do not provide a confirmed diagnosis or recovery timetable for either player.

Mikel Arteta is due to address the media ahead of the match.

Saliba works separately from the squad

Saliba’s individual work provides an update on his rehabilitation, but does not amount to a return to full team training.

Christos Tzolis was also absent from the group as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Arsenal approach the Lille fixture after recovering from a goal down to beat Leeds, with Calafiori equalising before substitute Bruno Guimarães scored the winner.

They host the French side at the Emirates on Tuesday 13 October, with kick-off at 8pm, having opened their Champions League campaign with a 1-0 win away to Napoli.
