Bayern Munich vs Arsenal: TV, Team News & Predicted Line-ups

Bayern Munich vs Arsenal is live on TNT Sports 1 on Wednesday night, with Mikel Arteta facing a decision over whether to reward Noni Madueke with a starting place.

Kick-off at the Allianz Arena is 8pm BST on 21 October, with UK streaming available through TNT Sports on HBO Max.

Arsenal have won their opening two Champions League matches without conceding. Bayern have four points from two games and arrive fresh from a 6-1 victory over RB Leipzig, although Michael Olise’s suspension removes one of their most dangerous attacking options.

Madueke, meanwhile, supplied the decisive intervention in Arsenal’s 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest. His introduction for Eberechi Eze at half-time changed the game and strengthened his case for a place on the left in Munich.

Arsenal team news: Madueke pushes for a start

William Saliba remains unavailable with a back injury, while Piero Hincapié and Christos Tzolis are recovering from ankle and hamstring problems respectively. Arsenal have no players suspended for this fixture.

There is better news over Martín Zubimendi, who returned to the substitutes’ bench at Forest after his ankle problem. His availability gives Arteta another midfield option alongside Declan Rice, Bruno Guimarães and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

The more immediate selection question is further forward. Eze started at the City Ground but was replaced at the interval, with Madueke eventually scoring the deflected winner in the 80th minute.

For this match, Madueke’s willingness to run at defenders makes him an appealing choice. Arsenal will need an outlet when Bayern push forward, and carrying the ball away from pressure could be as valuable as their passing combinations.

Bayern team news: Olise suspended and Musiala absent

Olise misses the match after receiving two yellow cards against Viking. Lennart Karl is a possible replacement on the right, with Serge Gnabry another option.

Jamal Musiala is also set to miss out. Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said after the Leipzig match that the midfielder would not be ready for Arsenal as he continues his recovery.

Manuel Neuer’s availability remains uncertain because of a foot problem. Jonas Urbig has started Bayern’s last two matches and could continue if the captain is not ready. Kim Min-jae is also reported to be a doubt after coming off against Leipzig.

Bayern still have considerable firepower. Luis Díaz scored a hat-trick and supplied an assist against Leipzig, with Bayern’s official reaction highlighting his importance ahead of Wednesday.

Bayern Munich vs Arsenal predicted line-ups

These are Dave.Sport’s predictions, not confirmed teams.

Bayern Munich, 4-2-3-1: Urbig; Laimer, Upamecano, Tah, Brown; Kimmich, Pavlović; Karl, Saibari, Díaz; Kane.

Arsenal, 4-2-3-1: Raya; Timber, Konsa, Gabriel, Calafiori; Guimarães, Rice; Saka, Ødegaard, Madueke; Havertz.

Our forecast keeps Urbig in goal while Neuer’s fitness remains unresolved. For Arsenal, Timber gets the nod at right-back, while Havertz’s ability to connect midfield and attack earns him the centre-forward role ahead of Viktor Gyökeres.

The key battle: stopping Harry Kane without losing midfield

According to Bayern’s official match statistics, Kane has scored in nine consecutive Champions League appearances. He also has 15 goals in 22 competitive meetings with Arsenal.

Konsa and Gabriel will need help when Kane drops towards midfield. Following him too far could leave space for Díaz; allowing him to turn would give Bayern time to pick their next pass. Rice’s positioning will be central to managing that trade-off.

Arsenal also have recent evidence that they can hurt these opponents, having beaten Bayern 3-1 at the Emirates last season.

Dave.Sport prediction

Bayern Munich 1-1 Arsenal.

Bayern’s attacking absences improve Arsenal’s prospects, but Kane and Díaz still demand a disciplined defensive performance. We expect Arteta’s side to have opportunities when they escape Bayern’s press, particularly if Madueke starts.

Arsenal should be competitive enough to take a point. Winning will require greater attacking fluency than they showed for much of the afternoon at Forest.
