Como equalled the biggest winning margin in Champions League history with an extraordinary 9-1 victory at Lens, led by a Tasos Douvikas hat-trick.

Cesc Fabregas’s side scored six times after half-time to turn a commanding away performance into one of the competition’s most remarkable results.

The eight-goal margin matched Liverpool’s 8-0 victory over Besiktas and Real Madrid’s 8-0 win against Malmo, Reuters reported.

Como overwhelm Lens as Douvikas scores three

Douvikas scored twice before the interval, with Nico Paz also on target as Como established a 3-0 lead.

Lucas Da Cunha and Marc-Oliver Kempf added to the score before Douvikas completed his treble. Mattia Liberali, Martin Baturina and Matteo Papaccioli also scored, while Ruben Aguilar provided Lens’s only response.

Papaccioli’s contribution added another notable moment to the evening: the 18-year-old scored on his debut, according to Football Italia’s match report.

Cesc Fabregas urges Como to stay grounded

Fabregas welcomed the performance but stressed that his players must remain humble and continue improving.

Speaking after the match, in comments carried by Football Italia, he warned against treating the result as a guarantee of further success.

It was Como’s first away win in the Champions League. They had already beaten RB Leipzig and Manchester United 4-1 at home, either side of a 3-2 defeat at Feyenoord.

Our earlier European football round-up covered the implications of United’s defeat in Italy.

What does the result mean for Como?

Como finished the night fourth in the league-phase table with nine points from four matches.

Qualification is not secured, but three victories have given Fabregas’s side a strong platform for the second half of the league phase. Their latest win also delivered a substantial goal-difference boost.
