Liverpool’s latest injury update has left Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo doubtful for Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Manchester City.

Andoni Iraola says both forwards remain injured following their early returns from international duty, although he has not ruled either player out of the match at Anfield.

“Now it’s a matter of if they are going to recover in time to help us in the next game or not,” Iraola said in comments reported by beIN Sports.

Liverpool injury update: Decisions await on both forwards

Liverpool confirmed Isak’s withdrawal from the Sweden squad on 27 September, describing his problem as a minor injury and saying he would undergo assessment by club medical staff.

Gakpo returned from Netherlands duty the following day after suffering an ankle injury against Serbia.

The forward had been substituted during the first half of the Netherlands’ 2–1 victory and missed their remaining two internationals.

Their availability remains unresolved with four days until City’s visit on 11 October.

Iraola’s update confirms that both players still face a recovery assessment before Liverpool can establish whether they will be available. It does not provide a firm return date for either forward.

Their fitness adds to the selection questions facing Premier League clubs after the international break, with Liverpool waiting to learn whether two senior attacking options can take part.
