Gabriel contributes at both ends
Gabriel’s goal followed a worrying moment when he needed treatment after an awkward fall. He recovered to meet White’s delivery at the far post and give Arsenal a two-goal cushion.
Raya also made an important reaction save while the lead was still narrow. Those incidents, covered in The Short Fuse’s match report, underline why the clean sheet mattered alongside the defenders’ goals.
Konsa’s early finish had established the advantage. Gabriel’s header then reduced Everton’s opportunity to take something from the closing stages.
Everton leave without a breakthrough
Everton could not respond to the early setback and suffered another defeat after losing to Chelsea the previous weekend.
Moyes had kept his selection plans guarded in his pre-match press conference. The outcome leaves him looking for an attacking response as well as an improvement in results.
