Rio Ngumoha says discussions over a new Liverpool contract are going well, with the teenage winger leaving negotiations to his agent while he concentrates on football.

The 18-year-old addressed his future after helping Liverpool recover from a goal down in their 2-1 victory at Brentford on Saturday.

Rio Ngumoha gives update on Liverpool contract talks

Speaking to reporters after the match, in comments carried by This Is Anfield, Ngumoha said: “To be fair, that is all with my agent now.”

His existing contract runs until 2028, according to the same report. Liverpool have yet to announce an extension following his 18th birthday in August.

Ngumoha also explained that his attention remains on his performances, with the contract discussions taking a back seat as he looks to build on his opportunities.

Ngumoha contributes to Liverpool comeback

Andoni Iraola introduced Ngumoha in the 52nd minute at Brentford after Jeremie Frimpong was forced off injured.

Liverpool were trailing 1-0 against 10 men when he entered the game. Goals from Víctor Muñoz and Alexander Isak subsequently completed the turnaround, while Vitaly Janelt’s late foul on Ngumoha brought a second booking and left the hosts with nine players.

Ngumoha joined Liverpool’s academy from Chelsea in September 2024 and made his senior debut against Accrington Stanley the following January.

He signed his first professional contract in September 2025, shortly after scoring the stoppage-time winner at Newcastle on his Premier League debut.
