Luke Campbell says he would consider coming out of retirement to fight Conor Benn following their public disagreement.

The Olympic gold medallist, whose last professional bout was against Ryan Garcia in 2021, told Sky Sports he would welcome the opportunity.

Asked about facing Benn, Campbell said: “100 percent. If it came my way, definitely.”

Luke Campbell explains comeback position

Campbell said he continues to train but stressed: “I’m not officially making a comeback.”

His interest in facing Benn follows comments about Campbell’s performance against Garcia. Campbell told Sky Sports that he had responded to criticism rather than initiated a challenge.

The comments leave open the possibility of a return, but do not amount to a fight announcement. No date or agreement was announced in the interview.

Campbell’s position is that he would consider the right opportunity, with Benn an opponent who interests him.

Elsewhere in British boxing, Derek Chisora’s proposed comeback has brought a dispute with the British Boxing Board of Control.
