Lauren James says England must put their qualifying disappointment behind them as they prepare to face Greece in the Women’s World Cup play-offs.

The Lionesses missed automatic qualification after finishing behind Spain on goal difference. They now need to negotiate two rounds to reach next summer’s tournament in Brazil.

Sarina Wiegman’s side begin the first round in Crete on Friday, before hosting Greece at Leicester’s King Power Stadium on Tuesday.

“We can’t change what happened and that’s where we are now,” James told Sky Sports News.

The Chelsea forward wants England to focus on the matches ahead, with another opportunity to play at a World Cup providing the motivation.

James also believes she has more to offer for club and country. She said regular football helps her find rhythm and hopes to carry her club momentum into England’s campaign.

Chelsea have won four and drawn one of their opening five Women’s Super League matches.
