Wrexham vs Wolves injury news brings a major setback for the hosts, with Sam Smith ruled out for the rest of the season. Wolves have received better news on Yerson Mosquera, who returned to training on Friday after illness.

Callum O’Hare remains a doubt for Wrexham, while Jordan James is unavailable for Wolves. Both managers have fitness decisions to make before Saturday’s 12.30pm Championship kick-off at the Racecourse Ground.

Sam Smith injury ends striker’s season

Smith suffered a cruciate ligament injury against Sheffield United and will miss the remainder of the campaign, according to Wolves’ official pre-match update.

It is a significant loss for Phil Parkinson, whose attacking options are already reduced by injuries to Josh Windass and Nathan Broadhead.

Parkinson had initially described Smith’s likely absence as lengthy. The subsequent season-ending update means Wrexham must plan without the striker beyond the immediate visit of Wolves.

Wrexham injury news: Windass, Broadhead and O’Hare

Windass remains sidelined with an ankle injury. In Wrexham’s earlier squad update, Parkinson explained that swelling had prevented the progress the club had hoped for.

The manager said Windass had been using an anti-gravity treadmill, but the priority was to take pressure off the ankle. No confirmed comeback date was given.

Broadhead has been recovering from a thigh injury. Parkinson had hoped he would join part of Thursday’s training, although Friday’s opposition preview still lists him as unavailable. A partial training return should therefore not be treated as clearance to play.

O’Hare withdrew from training before the Sheffield United game and remains a fitness doubt. He has not been confirmed as available for Saturday.

Seb Revan is also listed among Wrexham’s injured players in Racing Post’s matchday team news.

Yerson Mosquera fitness boost for Wolves

Mosquera missed Thursday’s training because of a virus but returned on Friday. The defender is expected to be available for the trip, according to the Shropshire Star’s report on César Peixoto’s update.

He completed the full match against Bristol City in midweek before falling ill. His return to training is encouraging, although Peixoto has not confirmed his starting XI.

“He started to train today, but on Thursday he was sick,” the Wolves head coach said.

Jordan James remains out as Wolves target training return

James will miss the Wrexham match with the hamstring injury that also kept him out against Bristol City.

Peixoto hopes the midfielder can resume training after the international break. That is a training target, rather than a confirmed date for his next appearance.

Boubacar Traoré, Bertrand Traoré and Raúl Jiménez also remain sidelined.

What do the injuries mean for selection?

Parkinson has indicated that Smith’s absence will create more opportunities for Bailey Cadamarteri, praising the forward’s readiness in training. That gives Wrexham another option alongside Kieffer Moore without confirming who will start.

For Wolves, Mosquera’s recovery could allow Peixoto to retain a familiar defensive partnership. The final team will also reflect how players have recovered from Wednesday’s match.
