St Johnstone vs Dundee injury news brings welcome returns for both managers before Saturday’s Scottish Premiership meeting at McDiarmid Park. Sam Stanton is available again for Saints, while Owen Bevan and Ryan Finnigan return to Dundee’s squad.

The hosts must make a change in goal, however, with Toby Steward suspended. Kai Fotheringham is back from his own ban for the match on Saturday 7 November, which kicks off at 3pm UK time.

St Johnstone injury news: Sam Stanton available again

The latest Sam Stanton injury update from The Courier confirms the midfielder has recovered from the training-ground foot injury that kept him out of Saints’ last three matches.

His return gives Simo Valakari another midfield option against Dundee. The Saints manager welcomed having Stanton back in training, saying: “It’s been good to have Sam back training.”

Availability does not confirm a starting place, but Stanton is back in contention after missing the recent run of games.

Toby Steward suspended as Kai Fotheringham returns

Steward will miss the derby through suspension following his dismissal against Kilmarnock. His absence is disciplinary rather than injury-related.

Fotheringham moves in the opposite direction, becoming available after serving his ban. BBC Sport’s Friday team news confirms both changes alongside Stanton’s return.

Dundee injury news: Bevan and Finnigan return

Steven Pressley has more options after Bevan recovered from a thigh problem and Finnigan overcame an ankle issue.

Both players missed Dundee’s 3-1 win over Kilmarnock. They subsequently took part in a training game, with Finnigan’s workload being managed during his recovery, according to The Courier’s report on Dundee’s double fitness boost.

The more recent update was positive. Pressley said both had come through Wednesday’s training without adverse effects and told The Courier before the trip to Perth: “There will be no worries in using Ryan this weekend.”

Pressley also praised Callum Jones for his performances during Finnigan’s absence. The returning pair strengthen the squad, but neither has been confirmed in the starting line-up.

Who is still missing for Dundee?

Dundee remain without Bobby Wales, Simon Murray, Finlay Robertson and Jack Moorhouse. Goalkeeper Kieran O’Hara is also expected to miss the trip with a groin problem.

There were no fresh injury concerns in Pressley’s latest update, although those existing absences continue to limit his options.
