Rico Henry injury: the Brentford left-back in action

Rico Henry injury news explains the Brentford defender’s recent absence: Keith Andrews says a hip and quad problem will keep him out for several weeks, probably until after November’s international break.

The left-back suffered the injury in training a few weeks ago. He will miss Wednesday’s Carabao Cup trip to Sunderland, with the recovery window also putting him out of contention for Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest.

Rico Henry injury: what happened?

Andrews confirmed the nature of the problem during his press conference on Tuesday 27 October, ahead of Brentford’s fourth-round cup tie.

“Rico is going to be out for a period of weeks, probably until after the international break,” he said in Brentford’s official injury update.

Henry had started the earlier Carabao Cup victories against Birmingham City and Reading. His injury prevents him from continuing that run against Sunderland.

When will Rico Henry return?

Andrews has not named a comeback match. His assessment points towards a return after the November international break, but that remains an estimate rather than a confirmed date.

The update also explains why Henry has recently been missing from the squad. The Hounslow Herald reported that he had been absent from Brentford’s previous three Premier League squads and had played only two league minutes this season.

His cup involvement had offered more playing time, with starts in both rounds before the Sunderland trip.

What does Henry’s absence mean for Nottingham Forest?

Brentford host Forest at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday 31 October, with kick-off at 3pm GMT. Henry’s recovery is expected to extend beyond that fixture.

The game follows Wednesday’s visit to Sunderland, where Andrews must manage his squad across league and cup commitments. Sunderland also have fitness decisions to make, as covered in our Wilson Isidor injury update.

Milambo and Dasilva make progress

Andrews offered more encouraging news on Antoni Milambo and Josh Dasilva, who have resumed involvement in training. Neither update confirmed a starting place.

Kaye Furo is recovering from a metatarsal injury. He is out of his protective boot but had not returned to training on grass when Andrews spoke.
