Bowen strikes twice as Cardiff shut out Ospreys in derby rout
Tom Bowen scored twice as Cardiff swept aside Ospreys 26–0 at St Helen’s, with Steffan Emanuel inspiring a bonus-point Welsh derby victory.
The Ospreys vs Cardiff result was built on a commanding first half. Bowen’s double and a Josh Adams try put the visitors 19–0 ahead before replacement hooker Tom Howe secured the fourth try after the break.
Jarrod Evans kicked two conversions and Callum Sheedy added another as Cardiff returned to the top half of the United Rugby Championship table.
Ospreys vs Cardiff: Bowen double puts visitors in control
Both sides entered the derby with two wins and two defeats, but Cardiff established an early advantage through their sharper attacking play.
Emanuel helped create the opening try, finding space in the defence before releasing Bowen to finish. The centre then combined with Evans as the wing crossed for a second time.
Ospreys threatened through their forwards and initially appeared to have a reply when Steffan Thomas went over. A television match official review ruled out the score, with Johan Mulder preventing the grounding.
Cardiff’s third try again owed much to Emanuel. His kick found Adams, who touched down to extend the lead and leave Ospreys facing a substantial task at half-time.

Howe secures bonus point as Cardiff hold firm
Ospreys applied pressure after the interval, with their scrum giving them a foothold. Cardiff responded by introducing props Scott Sio and Javan Sebastian.
The hosts again went close through their forwards, but Sam Parry was held up over the line. Cardiff continued to protect their advantage despite conceding penalties.
Howe made an important contribution at both ends. The teenage replacement won a turnover penalty before finishing from a driving maul to secure the attacking bonus point.
It was his first Cardiff try, according to the club’s official report.
Emanuel then helped preserve the shutout, denying Keelan Giles at the line in the closing seconds to complete an influential evening.
Cardiff overcome absences to finish league block strongly
Cardiff said they were missing 18 players through international call-ups and injuries, making the scale of their victory particularly welcome before the league break.
They scored four tries without reply and left Swansea with maximum points. Ospreys, meanwhile, were unable to turn their periods of forward pressure into a score.
The result leaves Cardiff seventh and Ospreys ninth heading into the November international window, according to BBC Sport’s report via AOL.
