Our Man City vs Ipswich predicted lineups include Phil Foden, Ayyoub Bouaddi and Iliman Ndiaye as Enzo Maresca considers changes after the Champions League defeat by Paris Saint-Germain.
City host Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 17 October, with kick-off at 3pm BST, looking to extend their perfect Premier League start to seven victories.
Erling Haaland remains our choice to lead the attack, although Maresca’s comments about managing his workload mean his inclusion cannot be taken for granted.
Our Man City vs Ipswich viewing guide explains the broadcast arrangements and highlights options.
Man City team news: Will Haaland start?
Maresca has acknowledged that Haaland and other heavily used players will need opportunities to rest.
As reported by the Standard following Friday’s press conference, the City manager is considering workloads across players involved regularly for club and country.
That leaves room for rotation, but it does not amount to confirmation that Haaland will miss Ipswich.
The striker scored both City goals in Wednesday’s 4–2 defeat by PSG. Our prediction keeps him up front while changing the players supporting him.
City have no reported fresh injury concerns, giving Maresca scope to make tactical changes.
Foden, Bouaddi and Ndiaye push for places
Foden is available again in the Premier League after completing his three-match domestic suspension.
He is our choice for the central attacking role, with Rayan Cherki making way in this prediction.
Bouaddi and Ndiaye also have strong claims after their contributions against PSG. Both came on at half-time and supplied an assist for Haaland.
Our analysis of Bouaddi and Ndiaye’s impact examines why those performances gave Maresca alternatives to consider.
Bouaddi gets our nod alongside Fernandez in midfield, while Ndiaye is selected on the left. Semenyo completes the attacking support behind Haaland.
Ipswich team news: Fatawu returns from suspension
Abdul Fatawu is available after serving a one-match ban, giving Gary O’Neil another attacking option.
Speaking before the trip, O’Neil said he expected to have a full squad available, although a couple of players still required checks on minor issues, according to TWTD’s report from his press conference.
Our prediction includes Fatawu alongside Julio Enciso and Jack Clarke behind Emersonn.
Palacios and Lukic are selected in central midfield, with O’Shea and Diop forming the defensive partnership ahead of Walton.
Ipswich arrive after their late comeback against Fulham. As our analysis of their late winners explains, substitutes have already made important contributions this season, giving O’Neil decisions beyond his starting XI.
