Daniel Farke identifies Leeds issue in Arsenal defeat

Daniel Farke says Leeds needed greater composure in possession after taking the lead in their 2-1 defeat at Arsenal.

James Justin put the visitors ahead in the 55th minute, but Riccardo Calafiori equalised seven minutes later before substitute Bruno Guimarães completed the turnaround.

Farke felt Leeds had produced a performance worthy of points, while identifying small details that allowed Arsenal back into the contest.

Daniel Farke pinpoints Leeds’ room for improvement

“We could have been a bit tidier and not given the ball away so easily,” Farke told Leeds United’s official website.

The Leeds manager suggested his players became too eager in possession as they pursued a second goal. He also questioned whether his defence had moved too far across and reacted too slowly to the run for Arsenal’s equaliser.

However, Farke resisted blaming a major individual error, pointing instead to small lapses and the quality Arsenal could introduce from the bench.

Leeds’ attacking threat offers encouragement

The match statistics underline how competitive Leeds were. They registered five shots on target to Arsenal’s four, with both sides creating three big chances.

Gabriel Gudmundsson assisted Justin’s opener and earned Leeds’ highest mark in our Arsenal v Leeds player ratings.

Guimarães ultimately made the difference, scoring seven minutes after replacing Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Farke said he had encouraged his players at half-time to maintain their approach, believing victory was within reach. Despite the result, he remained proud of their performance and felt there was plenty to build on.
