Moses Itauma will remain with trainer Ben Davison as promoter Frank Warren targets a January 2027 return for the heavyweight.
The 21-year-old is preparing to rebuild following his first professional defeat against Filip Hrgovic, who stopped him in the ninth round.
Warren has confirmed that discussions about Itauma’s future have taken place, with the existing coaching team set to continue.
“He’s staying with Ben [Davison] and the team,” Warren told Playbook Boxing, in comments reported by British Boxing News.
“You’ve got to judge him now on his results, which is what we’ll do.”
Itauma comeback planned for January
January remains the intended return window. The reports carrying Warren’s update do not name an opponent, venue or exact date.
According to talkSPORT, Itauma is expected to face a step down in opposition when he returns.
His defeat prompted scrutiny of his preparation and questions over whether a change of trainer would follow.
Warren has also acknowledged his own responsibility for approving the Hrgovic fight.
The latest update settles the immediate question over Itauma’s corner. Details of the contest that will begin his comeback remain outstanding.
