Jack Rudoni starts behind Sidiki Chérif in our Coventry vs Fulham predicted line-ups, while Antonee Robinson retains his place for the visitors with Ryan Sessegnon suspended.
Frank Lampard has confirmed Loum Tchaouna and Yann Gboho are fit despite their recent omissions, giving Coventry alternatives in attack. Our prediction nevertheless favours continuity for Saturday’s Premier League match.
Kick-off is at 3pm BST on 24 October at the Coventry Building Society Arena. These are our predicted teams, not confirmed starting XIs.
Coventry predicted XI: Rudoni supports Chérif
Predicted XI, 4-2-3-1: Carl Rushworth; Milan van Ewijk, Bobby Thomas, Ethan Pinnock, Jay Dasilva; Caleb Yirenkyi, Matt Grimes; Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Jack Rudoni, Brandon Thomas-Asante; Sidiki Chérif.
We retain Rudoni in the central attacking role, with Sakamoto and Thomas-Asante either side of him and Chérif leading the line.
Rudoni scored in the 4–1 victory over Newcastle and again in Monday’s defeat at Tottenham. Keeping him behind Chérif preserves that combination, while Ellis Simms offers Lampard another centre-forward option.
There is competition for the wider positions, however. Tchaouna and Gboho should not be treated as injury absentees simply because they did not travel to Tottenham.
In his latest press conference, Lampard said both were training and fit, but still adapting to Coventry’s methods, according to BBC Sport’s report, carried by AOL.
That makes their involvement a selection decision. We have left both outside the predicted XI, without suggesting either is unavailable.
Eccles setback keeps Coventry’s midfield options restricted
Josh Eccles remains unavailable, but the nature of his latest problem needs distinguishing from the injury that initially sidelined him.
Lampard said Eccles had recovered from his calf issue before an ankle injury disrupted his rehabilitation and return to team training. There is no confirmed comeback date in that update.
Haji Wright, Aurèle Amenda and Luke Woolfenden also remain out. Our Wright injury page covers his recovery and the provisional return window.
Yirenkyi and Grimes are our midfield pairing. Gustavo Hamer provides another selection consideration after asking to play for the under-21s to build his minutes, an approach Lampard praised. That does not automatically establish that he will start against Fulham.
Fulham predicted XI: Robinson stays in, King supports García
Predicted XI, 4-2-3-1: Bernd Leno; Timothy Castagne, David Affengruber, Calvin Bassey, Antonee Robinson; Sander Berge, Shea Charles; Oscar Bobb, Josh King, Alex Iwobi; Gonzalo García.
Our prediction keeps the Fulham XI that started against Hull, with King operating behind García and Iwobi starting from the left.
Iwobi supplied the winner in that 1–0 victory at Craven Cottage, which also brought Sessegnon’s late dismissal.
Sessegnon is suspended for the Coventry match, but Robinson had already started against Hull. His absence therefore reduces the available alternatives rather than requiring a different starting left-back.
Hugo Larsson’s groin problem remains a fitness concern. We retain Berge and Charles without assuming Larsson will be ready to return.
Rodrigo Muniz is an alternative to García up front, while Tom Cairney offers another midfield option. Neither is included in our predicted XI, but the win over Hull does not guarantee an unchanged team.
Where the final selection calls remain
Coventry’s attacking places are open to competition, particularly with Tchaouna and Gboho available. Lampard’s praise for Hamer also adds interest to the midfield selection.
For Fulham, our prediction favours the combination that secured their first league win, with the centre-forward position and Larsson’s fitness among the points to monitor.
