A postponement would usually mean playing the following day under UEFA’s rules, but any change requires confirmation.

UEFA’s fixture list continues to show the match taking place on Wednesday. No postponement announcement was identified in checks made for this article.

Italy’s Civil Protection Department has warned of intense showers, thunderstorms and strong gusts affecting Lombardy. The forecast has raised questions over conditions at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

What happens if the match is postponed?

Article 27 of UEFA’s Champions League regulations sets out the procedure when a match cannot begin or be completed.

The usual approach is to play the match, or its remaining minutes, the following day. For Como and United, that would mean Thursday 22 October.

However, Thursday has not been announced as a replacement date. UEFA must approve the stadium and set the new kick-off time.

If playing the next day is not possible, UEFA fixes another date. A rearranged match would normally take place at the same ground, although an alternative venue can be approved if circumstances require it.

Who decides whether the match is moved?

Under Article 26 of the competition regulations, concerns about weather or other conditions preventing a fixture from taking place must be reported to UEFA.

UEFA’s administration decides whether to change the venue, date or kick-off time.

If the match has already started, the referee decides whether it must be suspended, after consulting the UEFA match delegate and, where possible, UEFA’s administration.
