Joseph Parker is on the shortlist for Daniel Dubois’ next WBO heavyweight title defence, Sky Sports reported on Thursday, but the contest has not been confirmed.

The Ring reports that Saturday 30 January 2027 is a working date, with London’s O2 Arena and Manchester’s Co-op Live possible venues.

Parker is one of the opponents being considered. There is no confirmed agreement, date or venue for the fight.

Dubois retained his WBO title by stopping Fabio Wardley in the second round on 17 October. The Ring describes that victory as his first defence of the championship.

Parker previously held the WBO heavyweight title, winning it against Andy Ruiz in December 2016 before losing to Anthony Joshua in March 2018.

Why Dubois and Parker did not fight in 2025

The pair were scheduled to meet for the IBF heavyweight title in February 2025, but Dubois withdrew through illness during fight week.

Sky Sports reported at the time that Dubois had a fever and missed the final press conference while being assessed by a doctor.

Martin Bakole replaced him as Parker’s opponent. A new agreement would therefore revive a heavyweight contest that was previously cancelled before either man reached the ring.
