Oliver Glasner described Nottingham Forest’s 3–1 defeat at Crystal Palace as their best performance of the season and said he could not explain their failure to turn chances into goals.

Forest led through Dan Ndoye’s third-minute opener but conceded twice before half-time, with Yéremy Pino completing Palace’s comeback after the break.

The result made for a frustrating return to Selhurst Park for Glasner, who defended his players’ effort and finishing ability despite the defeat.

“Today, I have no explanation,” he said. “To me it was our best performance this season.”

His comments were reported by the Press Association via The Irish News.

Glasner backs Forest players after Palace defeat

Glasner rejected fatigue or a shortage of commitment as explanations, arguing that his players had created enough opportunities to win.

He instead reflected on the emotion of returning to his former club, suggesting the outcome felt connected to his own departure rather than shortcomings in his team’s performance.

Forest finished with 24 shots to Palace’s 13 and had 57% possession. Palace, however, registered seven attempts on target to Forest’s six.

As our Palace–Forest match report details, Daichi Kamada equalised in the 41st minute before Jefferson Lerma put the hosts ahead in first-half stoppage time.

Pino’s 59th-minute goal left Forest with too much to recover.

Sage keeps focus on Palace’s progress

Palace manager Pierre Sage said he had kept Glasner’s return out of his match preparations, concentrating on the opposition rather than the reunion.

He also acknowledged the foundations his predecessor had left behind and stressed that Palace still have plenty to learn.

The victory takes Palace to seven points from six league matches, two ahead of Forest.
