The All Blacks injury update has confirmed four absentees for the second Australia Test, with Du’Plessis Kirifi among the replacements called into Dave Rennie’s squad.
Asafo Aumua, Anton Segner, Leroy Carter and Ethan Blackadder will miss Saturday’s match in Sydney following New Zealand’s 50-19 victory at Eden Park.
George Bell, Jamie Hannah and Anton Lienert-Brown join Kirifi as injury replacements.
All Blacks injury update: who is out?
According to the official New Zealand Rugby update, Aumua and Segner both failed their second head injury assessments and face a minimum 12-day stand-down.
Bell replaces Aumua in the squad, while Kirifi comes in for Segner.
Carter suffered a high ankle sprain while scoring a try against the Wallabies. Lienert-Brown has been called up in his place.
Blackadder injured his calf during the match warm-up, with Hannah added as his replacement.
Kirifi gets his opportunity
The call-up brings Kirifi into the All Blacks squad for the first time this year, giving the loose forward an opportunity ahead of the return fixture.
The changes force Rennie to reassess his options after a victory in which he praised New Zealand’s improved ball retention and territorial control.
New Zealand led just 17-14 at half-time before pulling away with five second-half tries.
The teams meet again at Accor Stadium on Saturday 17 October. The All Blacks have already retained the Bledisloe Cup, with Australia now only able to draw the two-Test series.
