Floyd Schofield makes weight at second attempt for Bahdi

Floyd Schofield made the lightweight limit at his second attempt ahead of Saturday’s vacant WBA world-title fight against Lucas Bahdi in Chicago.

The American initially weighed above the limit before returning at 135lb, according to The Sporting Tribune. Bahdi weighed 134lb.

Both fighters therefore finished within the championship limit for their scheduled 12-round contest at Wintrust Arena, which headlines a card broadcast worldwide on DAZN.

Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi put unbeaten records on the line

Schofield enters the fight with 19 victories, including 13 knockouts. Canada’s Bahdi has won all 20 of his professional contests, with 15 stoppages.

The title became available after the WBA named Gervonta Davis champion in recess and ordered Schofield and Bahdi to contest the vacant belt.

Both men are seeking their first major world championship. Our Schofield–Bahdi analysis examines what winning the title would change for their careers and the lightweight division.

Sandoval and Mendoza also make weight

Ricardo Sandoval’s defence of his WBA and WBC flyweight titles against Sergio Mendoza provides another championship contest on the card.

Sandoval weighed 111.6lb, with Mendoza coming in at 111.4lb, both below the 112lb limit.

The Chicago event runs into Sunday morning for UK viewers. See our Schofield vs Bahdi viewing guide for broadcast details and the supporting bouts.
