Conah Walker vs Alexis Rocha confirmed for WBA eliminator

Conah Walker will face Alexis Rocha in a WBA welterweight title eliminator in Wolverhampton on Saturday 5 December.

The fight takes place at The Halls and will be broadcast worldwide on DAZN, Matchroom announced on Friday.

Walker returns after stopping Sam Eggington in the 10th round in May. The 31-year-old has won five consecutive fights, four inside the distance.

Conah Walker gets hometown eliminator

Trained by Jamie Moore, Walker holds an 18-3-1 record with nine knockouts and is ranked third by the WBA, according to Matchroom.

“I want to do a right job on Rocha,” Walker said in the promoter’s announcement.

The former British and Commonwealth champion’s recent victories also include wins over Pat McCormack and Harry Scarff.

The bout is an eliminator, rather than a world-title contest. Matchroom has not described it as a final eliminator or announced a guaranteed date for the winner to challenge for the belt.

Who is Alexis Rocha?

American southpaw Rocha brings a 27-2-1 record, including 16 knockouts.

He has recorded unanimous-decision victories over former world champions Joseph Diaz and José Ramírez this year, beating Diaz in March and Ramírez in September.

Rocha will be making his UK debut, according to FIGHTMAG’s report.

Ticket information and the supporting card are still to be announced.
