Thierno Barry has reached double figures for Everton this season after scoring twice in Friday’s 3-1 comeback win over Coventry City. The striker now has 10 goals in all competitions, already two more than he managed throughout the previous campaign.

Barry also supplied the assist for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s late goal at Hill Dickinson Stadium. His involvement in all three strikes helped Everton climb to fifth in the Premier League before the rest of the weekend’s fixtures.

Thierno Barry Everton goals: last season’s tally already beaten

Barry entered the Coventry game with eight goals this season, having scored in both recent victories over Newcastle United.

That had already matched his entire 2025-26 return, despite playing 29 fewer matches, according to BBC Sport’s pre-match assessment of Everton’s key performers.

His Coventry double moved the total to 10, a figure confirmed in Everton’s official match report. That is his tally across all competitions, rather than Premier League goals alone.

Three successive wins, with Barry scoring in each

Everton’s winning sequence began against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup and continued with Monday’s league victory at St James’ Park. Barry scored in both, then added another two against Coventry.

The latest goals arrived when Everton needed them most. Yann Gboho had put the visitors ahead before Barry converted deliveries from Vitaliy Mykolenko and Tyrique George to turn the match around.

He then released Dewsbury-Hall for the third, showing his value as a provider as well as a finisher.

Analysis: The significance is in the timing as much as the total. Barry is supplying decisive contributions during a run that has improved Everton’s league position and kept their cup campaign moving.

Everton fifth place adds weight to the progress

Fifth place remains a snapshot before the weekend’s other matches. It is nevertheless an encouraging position from which to enter the international break.

Analysis: Everton’s recent results give their supporters grounds for optimism, but the individual improvement is the more tangible development. Barry has surpassed his previous season’s scoring return by early November and is helping turn competitive matches into victories.

The supporting contributions matter too. Mykolenko and George provided the deliveries for his goals against Coventry, while Dewsbury-Hall finished the chance Barry created. Everton’s striker is benefiting from service and contributing to the players around him.

David Moyes Everton milestone ends with victory

The win also marked Moyes’ 592nd match in charge of Everton, drawing him level with Harry Catterick’s club record.

Speaking before the fixture, Moyes reflected on his connection with the club in Everton’s interview about the managerial milestone. He is set to move ahead of Catterick when Everton visit Brentford after the international break.

Barry ensured the record-equalling evening ended with three points. His next challenge is to maintain the scoring form that has become central to Everton’s recent progress.
