Everton owners The Friedkin Group are considering selling their controlling stake in the club, less than two years after completing their takeover.
Everton owners The Friedkin Group are considering selling their controlling stake in the club, less than two years after completing their takeover.
A statement released on Friday confirmed the group is exploring new investment options, which could include relinquishing control.
The announcement opens the possibility of another ownership change following the American group’s arrival in December 2024, when it brought Farhad Moshiri’s tenure to an end.
What has been said about a potential Everton sale?
In the statement, reported by Sky Sports, the owners said “the time is right to consider the next chapter for Everton”.
The group said its initial priorities had been to stabilise the club’s finances and support the completion of the new stadium.
It will assess prospective investors on their ability to continue that progress and said it would maintain its support for the club during the process.
Has a takeover been agreed?
Friday’s announcement does not confirm a buyer or an agreed sale. Selling a controlling interest is among the investment options being explored.
The statement did not set out a timetable, and the group and club said they would not comment further while the work continues.
The ownership development comes ahead of Everton’s trip to Hull City. Supporters can find the broadcast details in our Hull City vs Everton TV channel and live-stream guide.
