Archie Self began his Global Championship darts campaign with a 5-3 win over Kenya’s Peter Wachiuri in round one of the 2026 ADC Global Championship on Tuesday 3 November. The match was played in the evening session at the Modus Live Lounge on Day Three of the International Tournament. Self was recently crowned winner of Series 15 at the MODUS Super Series.

The result puts him into round two of a 128-player knockout. Darts World Magazine headlined its report on the evening “Global Championship Favourite Self Starts With A Win”.

Archie Self Global Championship: how the opening round went

Self won by two legs, 5-3, against a Kenyan opponent in his first match of the tournament. It was the closest of the evening’s results involving the three players Darts World Magazine singled out: Self, Croatia’s Boris Krcmar and England’s Jack Drayton.

Krcmar beat Daniel Astbury 5-1, and Drayton beat Ben Townley by the same score. Self’s margin was narrower than both.

His route to the event was set out in our earlier profile, Who is Archie Self?.

How the 2026 ADC Global Championship format works

The 2026 event uses a new format. Previous editions staged group stages before a knockout phase that began at the quarter-finals.

This year the field is 128 players in a straight knockout from round one. The tournament runs across seven days, with the final on Sunday 8 November. The champion receives £20,000.

Under the format, a single defeat ends a player’s tournament. That makes every early match decisive, including a 5-3 scoreline such as Self’s. Our guide to how to watch the ADC Global Championship explains the broadcast options.

What next for Archie Self after his opening win?

Round one concludes on Wednesday 4 November with a further double session. Play begins at 12:30 GMT in the afternoon and 19:00 GMT in the evening. Jamai Van den Herik, Johnny Haines and Gemma Hayter are among those starting their campaigns.

All matches are streamed live on the MODUS YouTube channel, Pluto TV and various bookmaker websites worldwide.

The final takes place on Sunday 8 November. For wider coverage of the sport, including the darts world championship, see our dave.sport darts section.
