De Zerbi eases injury fears over Tottenham trio

Roberto De Zerbi has played down injury concerns over Omar Marmoush, Andy Robertson and Tosin Adarabioyo after all three were withdrawn during Tottenham’s 3–1 victory over Coventry City.

The Spurs manager’s initial assessment was reassuring following an evening that brought their first Premier League win of the season, alongside the return of Dejan Kulusevski.

Tottenham now prepare to visit Chelsea on Saturday, with De Zerbi already managing several absences across his squad.

De Zerbi’s Tottenham injury update

Asked about the trio after Monday’s match, De Zerbi said, as reported by The Standard: “No, no, no, I think there are no injuries, nothing important.”

Robertson and Tosin went off during the second half before Marmoush was also replaced late on.

The forward had scored the goal that restored Tottenham’s lead after Jack Rudoni cancelled out James Maddison’s opener. Ben Davies subsequently settled the contest in stoppage time, completing the 3–1 win over Coventry.

De Zerbi’s comments offer encouragement, although they were an immediate post-match assessment rather than confirmation of the three players’ availability against Chelsea.

Udogie absence leaves another defensive decision

The situation is different for Destiny Udogie, who missed the Coventry match altogether.

De Zerbi explained before kick-off that the defender had experienced a knee problem following his appearance against Manchester United and that Tottenham had decided against risking him.

No return date was supplied in that update. Our Destiny Udogie injury report sets out what the manager confirmed about his absence.

Robertson’s condition therefore matters particularly on the left, where De Zerbi will want clarity over both players before choosing his side for Stamford Bridge.

Elsewhere, Savio and Lucas Bergvall were already unavailable. In his pre-match press conference published by Tottenham, De Zerbi said Savio faced several weeks out with a muscular problem and estimated around two weeks for Bergvall following knee pain.

Chelsea next after Tottenham’s first league win

Spurs travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday 24 October, with kick-off at 5.30pm UK time, as confirmed in the club’s October fixture update.

Monday’s victory lifted Tottenham to 16th on six points, ending their six-match wait for a league win.

Maddison marked his return to the starting side with the opening goal, while Kulusevski came off the bench after his lengthy injury absence.

Those attacking options give De Zerbi more choices as he looks to build on the Coventry result. His latest comments suggest the three withdrawals may not add significantly to the injury list, with the build-up to Chelsea set to provide a clearer picture.
