Scott McTominay returns to Scotland’s squad alongside Kieran Tierney and Che Adams, while James Penrice receives his first senior call-up.

Scott McTominay in action for Scotland

Scott McTominay has returned to the Scotland squad for November’s Nations League matches, with Rangers defender James Penrice earning his first senior call-up.

Kieran Tierney and Che Adams are also back in Sébastien Pocognoli’s 26-man group for the home match against North Macedonia on Friday 13 November and the trip to Switzerland three days later.

Penrice’s inclusion rewards his performances since joining Rangers on loan from AEK Athens. The left-back now has the chance to make his international debut during Scotland’s final two group fixtures.

McTominay, Tierney and Adams return to Scotland squad

McTominay’s recall restores an experienced midfield option for Pocognoli, while Tierney and Adams strengthen his choices in defence and attack.

The head coach has reduced his squad from the 28 players selected for the opening four Nations League matches to 26 for the November double-header.

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Kristi Montgomery retains his place. Scotland have again included four goalkeepers, according to the BBC’s report on the announcement.

The returning players give Pocognoli more options as he prepares for the closing fixtures of his first Nations League campaign in charge.

James Penrice earns first Scotland call-up

Penrice is the new face in the squad, having impressed at Rangers following his loan move from Greece.

His selection comes at the expense of Sassuolo defender Josh Doig, who has been left out. Penrice joins a group that also welcomes back Tierney, increasing the competition on the left side.

Speaking after the announcement, Pocognoli explained his decision to select the Rangers player and stressed the importance of continuity within his squad. Sky Sports carries the Scotland manager’s assessment of Penrice’s call-up.
