Pedro has announced his retirement from football at the age of 39, ending a career that brought World Cup success with Spain and major honours with Barcelona and Chelsea.
The forward confirmed his decision on Wednesday after leaving Lazio at the end of last season.
Reuters reports that Pedro calls time on a professional career spanning two decades.
He started Spain’s 2010 World Cup final victory over the Netherlands and scored in Barcelona’s 3–1 win against Manchester United in the 2011 Champions League final.
Pedro retires after success in Spain and England
Pedro won three Champions League titles with Barcelona before moving to Chelsea in August 2015.
He made an immediate impact in England, scoring and providing an assist on his debut against West Bromwich Albion.
His most productive Chelsea campaign came in 2016–17, when he helped Antonio Conte’s side win the Premier League, regularly playing alongside Eden Hazard and Diego Costa.
He added an FA Cup winners’ medal in 2018 and the Europa League the following year.
Pedro scored Chelsea’s second goal in their Europa League final victory over Arsenal in Baku, having also scored against Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi-finals.
Chelsea’s record of his five seasons at the club lists 206 appearances, 43 goals and 28 assists.
After leaving Stamford Bridge in 2020, he continued his career in Italy with Roma and then Lazio.
