Rio Ngumoha Contract Update: Liverpool Winger Says Talks ‘Going Well’

Liverpool are pressing ahead with talks over a new contract for Rio Ngumoha despite renewed interest from Bayern Munich, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer reporter says negotiations with the teenage winger are progressing and Liverpool remain determined to keep him. His update follows reports from Germany linking Bayern with another approach after their interest during the summer.

“The conversation is underway. It’s going quite well,” Romano said on his YouTube channel, in comments carried by TEAMtalk.

Liverpool transfer news: Ngumoha contract talks progressing

Romano said Liverpool want to reach an agreement as soon as possible, with the winger’s opportunities on the pitch an important part of his development.

“Rio doing well is also an important point because to find game-time obviously for a young player is crucial,” he said.

The update follows Ngumoha’s own comments last month, when he said discussions were going well and that his agent was handling negotiations. Our earlier Rio Ngumoha contract update covered the player’s position.

No new agreement has been announced. TEAMtalk reports that a deal could be finalised during the November international break, although that remains a possible timeframe rather than a confirmed signing date.

Bayern interest has not changed Liverpool’s position

According to TEAMtalk, Bayern considered Ngumoha during the summer as they looked for competition for Luis Díaz on the left. Liverpool were unwilling to sell, and the German club signed Ismael Saibari instead.

German journalist Christian Falk has since reported that Bayern remain interested and have been in contact with Ngumoha’s representatives.

Romano acknowledged Bayern’s admiration for the winger but said Liverpool had never been prepared to negotiate his departure.

“No panic for Liverpool. The player was never for sale. Never an option even to negotiate,” he said.

He added that Liverpool had declined to put a price on Ngumoha, rather than invite offers at a particular valuation.

New contract remains the priority for Rio Ngumoha

Romano’s account places the emphasis on negotiations to extend Ngumoha’s stay at Anfield.

“Liverpool want absolutely to keep Rio,” he said. “The real concrete negotiation is a different story because Rio is focused on these contract talks.”

For now, there is no announced agreement with Liverpool and no confirmed transfer deal with Bayern. The reported progress concerns a new Liverpool contract.
