Celtic vs Dundee United finished 2-2 as Liam Scales’ second-half header rescued a point after the visitors overturned Camilo Durán’s opener with two goals in three minutes.

Dundee United turn the game around

Durán gave Celtic the lead in the 18th minute, finishing after Kasper Høgh supplied the final pass, as detailed in Celtic’s official match report.

United responded through Sapsford in the 28th minute before Farrugia made it 2-1 three minutes later, leaving Martin O’Neill’s side behind at the interval.

Scales earns Celtic a point

O’Neill introduced Jota and Haissem Hassan at half-time, and Jota provided the delivery for Scales to head Celtic level.

The hosts pushed for a winner, but United held out to secure a draw.

What the draw means for the title race

Celtic remain four points clear of second-placed Rangers after all three leading sides dropped points on Wednesday.

Rangers drew 2-2 at Hearts, where Olwethu Makhanya scored a late equaliser. Hearts remain four points behind Rangers, leaving the gaps between the top three unchanged.

Dundee United extended their unbeaten run to six matches.

What Martin O’Neill said

Martin O’Neill felt Celtic’s second-half performance merited a victory, although he acknowledged that United continued to threaten.

“We fell asleep and conceded the goal, then another one,” he told BBC Scotland, in comments published by AOL.

O’Neill said the interval gave his players an opportunity to regroup. He praised Haissem Hassan’s impact after coming on, but felt Celtic needed to make more of the opportunities he created.

Scales rues costly spell

Scales also pointed to Celtic’s loss of concentration before the break, despite scoring the equaliser himself.

“We’ve dropped two points because of that, so it’s disappointing,” he told Celtic’s official website.

The defender praised the team’s response and welcomed Jota’s contribution, with the substitute providing the cross for his header.
