Exeter Chiefs have signed former Wales Under-20 back-rower Carwyn Tuipulotu for the 2026/27 season.

The club confirmed the free agent’s arrival on Tuesday following his departure from French side Pau.

Tuipulotu strengthens Exeter’s back-row options and has the opportunity to play alongside his cousin Greg Fisilau, with whom he grew up.

“We’re cousins but we grew up like brothers, so this is an extremely special opportunity,” he said in Exeter’s signing announcement.

Carwyn Tuipulotu returns to English rugby

Tuipulotu previously played for Scarlets and spent part of the 2024/25 season on loan at Saracens before moving to France.

He had most recently been training with Dragons while looking for his next club, according to RugbyPass.

The No.8 said conversations with former Exeter players Joe Simmonds and Harry Williams in France had helped shape his impression of the club.

Both spoke positively about Exeter’s family atmosphere, which Tuipulotu identified as an important part of the move.

His arrival gives director of rugby Rob Baxter another option as Chiefs build through the opening weeks of the Premiership season.
